The Name: Kenosis is the Greek word for the process of emptying oneself. In his letter to the Philippian church Paul encourages us to practice the same emptying by which Jesus Christ set aside his privileges and rights when He became human. This is a guiding principle in our approach to God. (Note: we do not subscribe to kenotic theology, which holds that Jesus gave up His divinity to become man. Rather, we believe that Jesus as the God-man humbled himself fully.)
